Our Craft
Understanding what these instruments are requires understanding how they’re created, and by whom. One workshop. One craftsman. One uncompromising vision manifested through months of focused work spanning software to metalwork, CAD design to hand-finishing.
What follows explains why creation takes months, why production limits itself to two instruments annually, why investment reflects genuine scarcity rather than artificial constraint.
One Vision, One Workshop, One Craftsman
Everything bearing the Alter Ego Appearance name emerges from singular obsession. Not a team. Not a production line. One person. One set of hands.
I strip panels to bare metal. I design parts in CAD software. I program CNC toolpaths in CAM software. I integrate letterforms through proprietary processes. I write C++ code for LCD/LED controllers. I apply powder coating. I replace every capacitor. I calibrate every circuit. I test every function.
When you acquire an Alter Ego Appearance instrument, one mind conceived it, one pair of hands built it, one person accepts responsibility for every millimeter. No delegation. No outsourcing. No compromise born from communication gaps.
We don’t artificially limit production. Physics does.
One person cannot work faster without compromising. Cannot delegate without fracturing singular vision. Cannot scale without destroying what makes this work what it is.
This is why creation takes 6 to 18 months. This is why we produce two instruments annually. Maximum.This is why each machine commands investment comparable to bespoke automobiles or commissioned sculpture.
The Process: Parallel Obsession
Creation doesn’t follow linear steps.
Multiple processes occur simultaneously — while panels cure in powder coating ovens, I’m programming LCD interfaces in C++.
While bronze cools in molds, wood undergoes stabilization. While CAM software renders CNC toolpaths for custom components, electronics receive bench attention.
But parallelization doesn’t accelerate completion.
Perfection demands iteration. Experimentation. Failure.Tremendous waste.
Discarded
Bronze castings with microscopic porosity. Powder coating not perfect. Wood showing grain flaws. CAD parts imperfect in hand.
Restarted
Stripped coating applied again. Recast bronze from new mold. Redesigned parts in CAD. Rewritten controller code.
Perfected
After weeks of iteration. After material waste measured in kilograms. After refusing to settle for adequate.

Every instrument carries lifetime warranty covering materials, workmanship, and function.
This warranty extends as long as I do — intrinsical bond to the craftsman who created it.
Coverage includes everything except physical damage.
Electronics failing? Covered.
Powder coating degrading? Covered.
Wood treatment failing? Covered.
Bronze developing unexpected issues? Covered.
Shipping costs fall to owner. Everything else: our responsibility. This reflects confidence in work performed.
The Path Forward
Commissioning begins with conversation, not a form.

we originate.
